Position Summary:

The Emergency Communications Center Director leads the Emergency Communications Center/911 for Madison County which provides around-the-clock emergency response to all 911 callers. The Director is responsible for 24/7 receiving, processing, and dispatching appropriate agencies and/or responders to emergency and non-emergency calls. Under the administrative direction of the Madison County Fiscal Court, the Director oversees, plans, coordinates and manages all operations and works in collaboration with the Madison County Public Safety Advisory Board to ensure oversight of Center operational policies and procedures. This role is responsible for the strategic direction and collaboration with all public safety agencies in Madison County.


Deputy Jailer

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment to maintain and lodge all inmates remaining in the Detention Center. This position oversees the daily activities and ensures that all work is completed on shift. This position requires the capability of making sound, independent and immediate life or death decisions as they are warranted. This position shall be able to be physically capable of defending themselves, fellow employees, inmates and the community at large, at all times. This position serves as a peace office of the Commonwealth of Kentucky for Madison County, with all the rights, privileges and duties assigned by law.

Position Summary:

Position Summary: Will perform firefighting and rescue duties as stated. Essential Duties, including but not limited to: • tShall perform firefighting, fire prevention and operation duties and does related work as required by the fire chief and/or his/her direct supervisor. • tWill respond to fire alarms, in full firefighting gear, lays out and connects hoses, nozzles and directs water streams. • tRaises and climbs ladders, uses chemical extinguisher, bars, hooks and lines and other equipment. • tRemoves persons from danger, administer first-aid and performs salvage operations such as salvage throws, sweeping waters and removing debris. • tCheck and inspect apparatus and all tools and equipment on apparatus daily. • tParticipates in fire drills and all classes and training on related subjects. • tPerforms general maintenance and upkeep of fire department property and equipment. • tConducts station maintenance such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, emptying trash etc. • tMust work in a safe manner, follow county wide safety policy and practices. • tThe Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. • tAcquires and retains a thorough knowledge of the county, including streets, buildings, water supply, unusual hazards and related items. • tShall do anything else that is deemed necessary by their officer. • tShall get Kentucky Fire Commission 400hour certification within 1 year of hire date and maintain 100 hours of fire training a year thereafter.


Lieutenant (Fire Department)

Position Summary:

The Lieutenant is a shift supervisory position that requires significant experience, familiarization and understanding of fire department operations. Directs emergency scene operations, supervises, and performs specialized functions in support of the fire department in the absence of a higher rank officer. Provides supervisory management and leadership at the shift level to firefighters. Is in charge of engine company in station of which Battalion Chief is assigned to.


911 Telecommunicator

Position Summary:

Employees in this class are responsible for receiving messages and/or calls for service via telephone, radio, teletype, fax machine or in person, for police fire, ambulance, and other emergency services. The work is performed in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Supervision is received from the Communications Supervisor.
