Hi, my name is Twizzler! I’m a seasoned mama who’s raised a litter or two in my day. The staff believe I was left behind after my last litter grew up, and that experience has given me a little separation anxiety — I don’t like being left outside by myself. I can be a bit shy at first, which makes sense since I haven’t always been treated kindly, but once I feel comfortable, my sweet personality really shines through. I’ve learned to be more of an independent dog, but I do enjoy gentle play. I’m good with male dogs who aren’t overly playful — I’ll join in a little, but I mostly like to do my own thing. I’m housebroken, good on a leash, and absolutely love hard chew toys, especially when I can de-stuff stuffed or squeaky toys. Recently, I went on my very first doggy day out, and I was a total doll! I walked three miles around the local college campus, and while I was a little reserved at first when new people came up, I quickly mellowed and was like, “Okay, I’ve got this.” Afterwards, I snuggled up on the couch at their apartment and enjoyed some quality TV time.
