Gender:Female (unaltered)

I came to the shelter as a stray after being found running along a high-traffic road. When I arrived, I was very underweight. I have gained more weight since being here, but I am still not at a healthy weight. When I first came in, I was feral-acting and did not want people handling me. I was not social and needed space. Over time, I have made progress. I am now loving toward the employees I know and I enjoy soft, gentle pets. With new people I am unsure of, I am shy and timid and need time to feel comfortable. I do show barrier reactivity toward people, meaning I may react when separated by a kennel door or barrier. In the kennel environment, I also pace frequently, which causes me to burn a lot of calories. This makes it more difficult for me to gain and maintain weight. I am currently housed with another dog who is also learning to trust people. Living with another dog has helped me make gradual progress. I am still adjusting to indoor life and will require a patient adopter who understands fearful dogs and can provide a calm, structured environment.
